Build Your Micro-School!

Parents and Educators...it can be done! Build the change you want to see by innovating education.

Step-by-Step Guidance so You Can Open Your Doors

Our 7-week course teaches you exactly what you need to create your micro-school and open your doors in no time. Your $200 fee for the program is a donation that creates equity, going directly to help Bullock Garden Project in New Jersey open a micro-school for disadvantaged youth. You get coaching and a cohort of support while helping another like-minded program and making a tax-exempt donation! It’s a win-win for our kids!

Seven Steps to Opening Your Micro-School

The most important tool for starting your Micro-School is a clearly written action plan. These Seven Steps will help you get there. Registering as a member of Micro-School Coalition will give you free access to premium content including digital downloads, online resources, consulting and more.

What is the vision and mission of our school? What does a graduate from our school look like? How do we deliver education?
Who will run our school? Who will teach our kids? How do we find these people?
How do we leverage the power of our tribe? What role do parents play? How do we fit into our neighborhood?
What is the market for our school? How do we connect with our customers? What are the threats and opportunities we face? How will we get people interested?
How can we innovate with our educational model? What tools will we use to achieve our vision? How will we know if we are making an impact on learning?
What will our operating costs be? How can we keep our operational costs to a minimum? How much tuition should we charge?
What’s the timeline for this project? What’s holding us back? How can we make this plan a reality?

Work with Us

MSC offers coaching individually or in a cohort (see below). An individually paced plan will be designed to meet your timeline and specifications. Between coaching sessions you will have with support in completing the homework and Action Plan steps. You will also have access to a private Facebook group to facilitate collaboration.

Need help clarifying your micro-school vision and direction?

A free initial consultation is a good place to start. This consultation will result in a drafted timeline and at least three ideas on how you can proceed.

JOIN OUR COHORT

JOIN OUR 6-month cohort and open your doors, with a team of support, in less than a year. The MSC cohort is small. Each micro-school leader will complete prerequisites before becoming a cohort member. For this cohort, we need hard workers grounded in reality. Once started, there will be monthly training sessions. Between these sessions you will have with support in completing the homework and Action Plan steps. There will also be a private Facebook group to facilitate collaboration.

The cohort will support our overarching goal for each participating start-up micro-school to have at least ten students and the doors open in less than a year. With the synergy of the group, and step-by-step support, this training program can help innovators meet the goal. A free initial consultation is a good place to start. Let’s talk about your vision and see what you need for support. The consultation will result in at least three ideas on how you can proceed.

Creating Micro-Schools for Colorful Mismatched Kids

A Step-by-Step Process that Empowers Frustrated Parents to Innovate Education

A few years ago, a parent at our founding school, LEADPrep, laughingly described our kids pouring out into the parking lot as happy mismatched socks. That definition that describes our unique and wonderful kids has stuck.

To support more communities in building a micro-school, our founder has written a how-to micro-school guidebook in three parts: The first tells of the need for more options for students. The second provides seven steps to opening a micro-school. The third part tells how our very own LEADPrep followed those seven steps and opened its doors.
